Helicopter Pilot Training - Learn to Fly Helicopters!

If you are searching for trustworthy information regarding a helicopter pilot training course, you have come to the right place. If you need help choosing the right helicopter flight training center, you are definitely in the right place!Imagine a career in aviation, flying helicopters for a living, and actually getting paid to do something that you always dreamed of. Well, the dream of flying helicopters may be closer to coming true than you might think!

Now, while it is true that helicopter pilot training is more challenging and - well yes, more expensive than fixed wing flight training, still, there are helicopter flight schools offering training packages for a helicopter Private Pilot License for less than $12,000. Not bad considering that the average cost of obtaining a fixed wing license is now about $10,000.

The Demand for Helicopter Pilots

I suppose if one were looking into a possible career as a helicopter pilot, and planning to spend thousands of dollars to that end, then there should be a reasonable assurance that one could find a job when the training is done - right?

Well, of course!

So, how is the demand? Are there helicopter pilot jobs available?

Well, here is a quote from an article which ran recently in The Dallas Morning News: "There are more commercial helicopters in the world than experienced pilots to fly them. It's a supply-and-demand problem that won't be going away anytime soon."

Now that's encouraging!

Actually, the demand for pilots of both airplanes and helicopters is reaching critical mass. That's good news for anyone with a passion for aviation!

Of course, you need more than a basic Private Pilot's License to earn money flying a helicopter. After your flight training course is complete and you are a certificated Commercial Helicopter Pilot, then your first gig as a PAID helicopter pilot would most likely be as a flight instructor. Low pay and little to no benefits, but hey: I never said this would be easy. Right?

SIDEBAR: Because of the critical demand for pilots overall, there is also a critical demand for flight instructors. So, that thing about low pay and almost no benefits? Well, that's changing very rapidly!

What's Next?

Well, first off, you will need to choose the right Helicopter Flight School.

And, of course, if you've read any of the other pages of this web site, you will know that I am going to "encourage you" to do your homework. Shop around. Contact several schools. Talk to the instructors and, if at all possible, talk to past and present students of that flight school.

Helicopter pilot training represents a very large investment of your time, effort and of course, your hard earned money. You will be glad in the end that you took a little extra time and effort to choose just the right flight school for your training course.
